School Days

We're finished with the first week of school and it has been a busy week! Wyatt started Kindergarten and God faithfully provided someone for me to job share with.

About a week and a half before school started I received an email stating someone was willing to job share with me. God has once again blessed me with more than I deserve. After working full time the last 2 weeks I'm so excited to be back part time next week. I can't wait to spend more time at home with my baby and taking care of all the things around here that I never have time for because I'm busy with work and the kids.

Kindergarten started off really well for Wyatt. But, he is quickly testing the limits, which for anyone who knows the real Wyatt knows that's normal!! :) He's learning he has to be quiet, which he makes up for in the afternoons and evenings! He's learning to walk in a line and up ramps to the portables the proper way (and he's very quickly learning what happens when you don't do it the right way). On the 3rd day of school he received a "straight face" on his daily citizenship report. He admitted to getting up when his teacher specifically told them not to, stomping up the ramp, walking on the edge of it instead of in line, and he choose to speak out while she was talking. Hopefully, that was all he did that day! So, he sat in time out while his classmates had center time. Of course we delievered consequences here for his misbehavior and we talked about why it's important to follow directions and do what your teacher tells you to. Later that evening he began to get sick (I'll spare you all the details and just say it was a stomach bug/virus... and I was stuck on clean up duty). When Thursday morning rolled around and he wasn't any better we decided to keep him home. This was a good thing as the child fell asleep and napped in the morning and began to run a low grade fever. Of course, God knew all along what was going to happen. My off days happen to coincide with his being sick so I did not have to use up any leave time. This is a major blessing because I was out so much last school year with my maternity leave and have to build my leave back up. It was nice being able to stay home and care to my sick child and not worry about my job! If only my faith had been stronger during the summer months.

Wyatt returned to school this morning and I went in as well to help out my co-teacher (who is fabulous to work with!). He had a difficult time with going to class and then at lunch time, but overall he had a great day. He came home with a "Happy Face" and he received the opportunity to have tub time (a form of centers). Of course my little man choose to read books instead of play.

As a mom, it's been a difficult week for me emotionally. I can't believe my baby is growing up so quickly and becoming a little man. I know time goes by so quickly when you have children but you're never prepared for just how fast. No one can really explain it or prepare you for it. Of course he is just a Kindergartener but I know in a blink he'll be grown and on his way. Again, God knew all along how this would affect me and so graciously blessed us with a baby just in time for me to do it all over again. My sweet Gavin gives me another chance to experience all the joys of a young baby growing into a fun loving, curious, and adventurous little boy just like his big brother.

There's so much more to tell, but this post is long enough. I'll have to do another update on Gavin soon and an update on Wyatt's spiritual growth which brings joy to my heart! I'm a blessed momma!
