Gavin celebrated his first birthday at the beginning of this month.
Gavin: How can a year have already passed?? I miss my sweet chubby baby that I could cuddle. You're on the go now that you've discovered walking. You are curious and not afraid to venture off and see what is going on around. You still love to eat and I fear the day you become a teenager! You're still nursing 3 times a day and would nurse more if I let you. I secretly enjoy the fact that you still want mama and I'm the only one that can provide that comfort for you. Thankfully, you figured out how to sleep through the night around 9-10 months although you still get us up at night at least once a week. I think you just want to make sure we're still here. :) Your favorite things to play with are my hair brush, the toy kitchen set, and the kitchen trash. Your favorite person to follow around is your big brother Wyatt. I pray you two will have a good and lasting friendship. Gavin, I'm blessed to have you as my baby, the baby I prayed for but thought I'd never have. God knew what He was doing when He told me no for so long, He knew that one day you would be here! For that I am thankful.

Happy 6th Birthday Wyatt
Wyatt celebrated his 6th birthday last month.
Wyatt: You continue to challenge and amaze me every single day. You are the most strong willed child I have ever encountered and you leave me shaking my head in confusion more often than not. But at the same time you leave me in awe over your loving ways. You want to help which often be mistaken for misbehavior because it's often at inappropriate times or it's just not something you are capable of doing just yet. You get so frustrated and don't know how to handle having to wait to grow up before you can do "adult" things. Your love for your brother has been incredible this last year and I know this was one of the best gifts we could ever give you, the chance to be a big brother. You continue to watch over him and guide him and can't wait to teach him as he grows in the coming years. Wyatt, your love for God continues to grow. You are so close to accepting Christ and I'm just wanting to make sure you truly understand what you are doing. Unfortunately I'm not always the best role model for you, but I pray God will still shine through and you will come to know him at a young age and that He will use your strong willed ways to bring others to Him. I am so thankful that God chose me to be your mom long before I thought I was ready to be mom. You have taught me more than anyone and God knew just what I needed at that time in my life. You have brought more joy and smiles to people during hard times and God knew you would. I am thankful for you!

Back at it?
Life has been busy and crazy the last few months.
We had a good Thanksgiving and a good but sad Christmas time. My grandpa fell on Christmas Eve and broke his neck. He spent Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas in the hospital in surgeries to repair it. He then spent some time in ICU but never really woke up. He was moved to Hospice right before New Year's Eve and passed away in the early morning of Jan. 3. In less than 3 years I have lost the two most influential men in my life, my dad and my grandpa. The only consolation that comes is knowing that they are in Heaven with our Heavenly Father both in much healthier stronger bodies than what they had on here on Earth. There was a peace in finding out that my grandpa had at one point in his life accepted Christ as his Savior. But, it doesn't take away the pain and hurt of losing 2 great men. I just pray that I can pass on their legacy to my boys. I'm so thankful that Wyatt got to have 3 years with his grandpa and 6 years with his great grandpapa and that Gavin gets to carry on his grandpa's name.
On a much lighter note both boys celebrated their birthdays during the holiday season! Wyatt turned 6 and just 5 days later Gavin turned 1. I can't believe how fast time is going by. We are now half way through the school year. Wyatt is excelling in school and learns so quickly. Although if you ask him he'll tell you they don't learn anything in Kindergarten. He made E's (highest you can get) in reading the first 2 grading periods and S's in all other subject areas. He brought his citizenship up from N to S! I would say he's finally adjusting to school. We never put him in preschool so this is his first experience other than Sunday School to be with other kids for a long period of time. He's taking AR tests in school now, which is good for a Kindergartner. I just pray he'll continue to be a life long learner and keep his love for learning. Gavin continues to fill our days with joy. He doesn't say anything yet, but he doesn't need to. He's got us all pegged and gets everything he wants or needs by pointing and grunting! :)
